The communities of Minard, Furnace, Inveraray, Cairndow, St. Catherines and Strachur are naturally parts of one larger community on North Loch Fyne. These small communities sit like a string of pearls around the head of Loch Fyne, and were historically often accessed by boats crossing the loch instead of the roads that today go around it.
The Furnace and Inveraray practice area runs along the northwestern shore of the north end of Loch Fyne.
The Strachur practice area runs along the southeastern shore of the north end of Loch Fyne. The practice areas meet between Inveraray and the Loch Fyne Oyster bar.
By forming a strategic alliance, the two practices will be able to support each other. For example, in an emergency or if a key member of staff from one practice is suddenly unable to work due to illness.
The area covered by the two practices runs from Loch Restil at the Rest and Be Thankful in the east to
half way down Loch Eck to the south, and along Loch Fyne to Nursery Cottage in Minard to the west and Cladich to the north.
The map shows mountain roads to the north and east that are roads that are at high risk of being closed in bad weather / winter. The main roads linking the three sites are low lying / loch-side roads that are less vulnerable to closure.
